The second season of HBO’s The White Lotus, which took place in the beautiful Sicily, Italy, was a huge success. So, naturally, all of us hooked on Mike White’s dark comedy were wondering where season 3 would take us. Well, we finally have an official answer: Thailand! However, we still don’t know which hotel will become The White Lotus Thailand’s set, though there is a lot of speculation about the location.
Considering the first and second seasons of the show feature Four Seasons hotels, it’s safe to assume the new one will, too. But, keeping in mind that there are 4 Four Seasons hotels in Thailand, which one will it be? In this post, we’ll go through each one to try to discover where the shenanigans of the uber-wealthy will occur. We’ll also include other luxury accommodations in Thailand that give White Lotus vibes while sharing what we know about the new season.
Everything We Know about the White Lotus Season 3 So Far
As I mentioned, season 3 of The White Lotus will take place in Thailand, as confirmed by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). Before the publication of this news, fans speculated the third season could have Indonesia or India as locations. After all, the show’s frontrunner, Mike White, referred to the season’s theme as a mix of “death and Eastern religion and spirituality.”
Likewise, after the writer’s strike delays, we know the series’ shooting started on Valentine’s Day, thanks to HBO’s Instagram post. On the other hand, the show’s expected premiere is in 2025.
In addition, we also know the actors who will be starring in the new season, which won’t include Jennifer Coolidge. The season will be the first one without Coolidge’s character Tanya. Sadly, Tanya was (SPOILER ALERT?) killed off in the final episode of season 2. The role earned Coolidge a Golden Globe and two Emmy awards.
However, there is a returning character from season 1. Natasha Rothwell, who played Belinda in The White Lotus Hawaii, will resume her role as spa manager in Thailand. Other names in the cast include Parker Posey, Walton Goggins, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Aimee Lou Wood. But perhaps the most surprising name cast is Lisa Manobal from the K-Pop supergroup BLACKPINK, making her acting debut. The singer is originally from Thailand.
Lastly, something we can all expect from The White Lotus season 3 is that it will be to die for. Like the two previous seasons, the new one will start with a character dying. As the episodes continue, the mystery of who dies and how will be revealed. So, I wonder, if it was real life, would the hotel chain remain open after so many murders? Nonetheless, it’ll be exciting to tune in each week to see how the case unfolds!
But which hotel will become The White Lotus Hotel in Thailand? We’ll go from most to least likely luxury Thai hotels below.
